Not only do we believe in the importance of giving back to our communities, we teach children the value of giving back. We teach children to do good deeds to help their classmates and teachers. We partner with our community to build close links to those around us. We teach gratitude and the importance of being kind to others. There are so many ways to teach children to give back to others!
Many people tend to give more charitably around the holidays. This is a great time to start a conversation with your child about why you give and ways to give! Families that make giving to others as a core value often raise more altruistic children.
How can you give back?
Volunteer as a family. Give back to your community by offering your time and experience.
Donate used items. Talk about what toys, clothing, or other items are no longer needed and how others can benefit from the donation.
Do good deeds. Small acts of kindness can have a big impact!
Donate to a charity. Ask your children and get their input to choose a charity together.
Teach gratitude. Express your appreciation for everyday things and discuss the things you are grateful for in your life.
At Dr. Day Care, we know how important it is for children to have close links with their community. That’s why we feel it is important to support our communities. We believe in giving back to programs that benefit children of all ages in the communities where we work and play.
Some ways that we give back to our communities is through sponsorships and donations. We also hold contests with winners choosing a charity to receive a donation! These contest are a great opportunity to talk with your child about why to give and ways to give. We love to have families participate in our contests, like the Turkey Dance Contest, Newsletter contests, Community Art contests, and more.
