We asked our parents why they think Dr. Day Care is so special. Responses covered a range of reasons like our curriculum, how we help families, or our teachers. We narrowed it down to this top 10 list!
1. Community focus.
With multiple locations across Rhode Island, we build and support the communities where we work and play. Sponsoring local little league teams, high school senior scholarships, community partnerships – we value community. Plus, with multiple locations, we can work together to help families find their perfect center.
2. Flexible schedules.
Families can drop off and pick up throughout the day – there is no set drop off or pick up time slot. We work with you and your family’s schedule.
3. Rich curriculum.
Education is a huge focus at Dr. Day Care. Teachers complete weekly lesson plans aligned to both the state standards (RIELDS) and the Dr. Day Care curriculum. View this month’s Curriculum Calendar. Our curriculum is revised annually based on teacher and parent feedback to form our Educational Framework. Teachers observe, evaluate, and assess children’s skill levels to build quality learning experiences.
4. Integrated special needs program.
Our special needs program provides the foundation for children to learn, socialize, and play alongside their typically developing peers. Based out of the Dr. Day Care home office, Therapeutic Child Care Services (TCCS) offers services by trained professionals that meet the needs of all children. This program gives all children the opportunity to succeed. Learn more at www.tccsri.com
5. Proven quality.
Dr. Day Care centers are nationally accredited, According to a study by Child Care Aware in America, only 10% of centers in RI are nationally accredited. Programs that voluntarily seek out national accreditation show their commitment to quality. Our centers are also BrightStars rated, the tiered quality rating system in Rhode Island. Quality programs give you the peace-of-mind that teachers are creating engaging learning experiences for your child.
6. Trained, qualified staff.
All Dr. Day Care staff complete 30 hours of training per year, more than required by the state. Trainings are offered monthly on important topics such as CPR and First Aid, communication, learning through play, helping children with special needs, and more. Plus, we have created our own trainings that are utilized by teachers across the country!
7. Nurturing environment.
We build a “school family” to work together to support you. Our nurturing teachers listen and communicate with parents to ensure both the child’s and parents’ needs are met. We use Tadpoles to capture special moments, take photos and videos of your child in action, as well as send you classroom information and updates throughout the day.
8. Safe, clean, & secure.
We have always been committed to having a clean and safe environment. Our registered nurse helps families and teachers ensure they are up-to-date on medical requirements such as flu shots, physicals, immunizations, and more. We take many steps to ensure the safety of your child. Fire drills are conducted throughout the year so that our children, staff, and teachers are prepared in the event of an emergency. Each center has an emergency evacuation plan and a safe location to evacuate to if needed.
9. Field trips and special activities.
Enriching curriculum is offered seasonally, at no extra cost! Foreign language, STEAM activities, learning about the environment, physical activity – these provide additional learning opportunities for all children. Children ages 4+ can attend special field trips and we invite special visitors into our centers. Field trips and on-site visits provide children with opportunities for hands-on experiences and unparalleled opportunities for learning.
10. We support working families.
At Dr. Day Care, we are committed to addressing the needs of working parents. Our Mission is to provide family, youth and child services in a safe, structured, and nurturing environment through a team of dedicated professionals. We are here to support you.
